The Maltese player who is being tipped as “Malta’s Wayne Rooney”, Etienne Barbara, saved the Carolina Railhawks from defeat on Saturday night when his team faced a determined and confident Rochester Rhinos formation.

This was the first away game of the season for Barbara and his team mates, who succumbed to the Rhinos pressure early in the game thus conceding a goal after only 9 minutes through Troy Roberts.

The game was pretty drab in the first half with not many actions worth noting, but in the second half, the Railhawks were more determined to get themselves on the scoresheet. In fact in the 54th minute, Sallieu Bundu won a penalty which Barbara converted, bringing his tally to three goals with Carolina.

Barbara is now on the way to Miami for the team’s next test on Saturday at 7:30pm (1:30 am on Sunday Malta time). Sportinmalta.com will be bringing you all the news as they come in.
