The Malta Air-Rifle & Pistol Shooting Club organized their second airgun competition at the Malta Shooting Sport Federation ranges in Bidnija this weekend.

Eleanor Bezzina scored a great 552/600 to take first place in the overall ‘mixed’ air-pistol event ahead of Ray Cacciattolo (541 points), whilst Martin Grech (500 points), Josette Calleja (482 points) and Emmanuel Grech (477 points) placed in 3rd, 4th and 5th place respectively. However Eleanor Bezzina had to miss out on the final as she had to make it in time for the MOC Awards in which she was eventually presented with a highly merited ‘Bronze Award’. Therefore after this final all the air-pistol shooters moved up a placing as all previous qualification placings remained unchanged.

In the air-rifle event, Lawrence Darmanin placed first with a score of 538 + 90.1 = 628.1 and was followed in 2nd place by Michael Xuereb (516 + 84.4 = 600.4) and in 3rd place by Austin Vella (455 + 81.7 = 536.7). Fourth Place went to Romeo Zuber with a combined score of 500.5 points.

William Vella is presently undergoing an intensive training camp in Hungary and this coming weekend he will be participating in the Brno (Czech Republic) Grand Prix alongside some of the best air-rifle shooters in Europe.
