Effiong brace lifts Marsaxlokk to second place

Alfred Effiong scored a brace in the last eleven minutes to put Marsaxlokk back to second place five points adrift leaders Valletta.

Julio Alcorse was serving his first of two matches ban and Patrick Curmi again opted for a 4-1-4-1 with Nigerian Alfred Effiong as a lone striker supported from the flanks by Dylan Kokavessis and Martin Deanov. Steve D’Amato started with an initial 4-4-2 with Peter Anizoba and Marcelo Pereira in the forward line.
