€100.000 invested in Lija A , new ground inaugurated

The Government invested €100,000 in Lija Athletic FC, with a new football ground and a sports complex. The ground is also used by Balzan FC.

Finance Minister Tonio Fenech yesterday morning inaugurated the sports complex in Lija, and gave details on how in the last 5 years the Government gave €47 Million worth of public land to sports clubs and organisations.

Dr Fenech said that in this legislature, the Government helped the Malta Football Association to open 133 football pitches with synthetic turf, with an investment of €9 Million.

Minister Fenech also gave details how the Good Causes Fund helped so many associations where in the past 5 years, around 600 organisations were given €10 million to develop several innovative projects.

MFA President Norman Darmanin Demajo, also present at the Lija Athletic FC inauguration stated how in the past 30 months, sport organisations opened 25 new sports complexes.
