Zahra and Fenech had a superb tournament powering through the qualifiers straight into the finals in 8th and 13th place respectively, from over 110 participating bowlers from 5 European nations, meaning they could avoid the first elimination round on the final day.

Both went on through the direct matches to win 2 and lose 1, until they met in a direct clash in which one of them had to be eliminated. After a tight first match which Fenech won, Zahra outperformed his younger friend with a solid 215 game to go on to the next round, which he also won to reach the top 6. He then faced eventual winner Ki Leighfield, and after drawing the first match, Leighfield beat Zahra with a superb 248.

Fenech ended up 13th overall as well as 2nd place in his age category of 13 and under. His sister Kathryn did not unfortunately make it to the final stages.
