Dr. Michael Aquilina passes away

The following statement has just been issued by the Malta Sports Council announcing the loss of Dr. Michael Aquilina:

“The Board of Directors, CEO and staff of Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport are deeply saddened to hear of the demise of Dr. Michael Aquilina, surely a big loss for sport in Malta.”

“KMS would like to salute a person who was instrumental in the development of sport in Malta and was also the first chairman of the same Kunsill Malti ghall-iSport after its establishment in 2002.”

“Michael was a greatly admired and respected gentleman and who had a great love for sport and in fact rendered an unselfish service to sport. For many years, he worked very hard to promote sport and physical education in Malta. His dedication and enterprise will surely be the best tribute of Michael’s contribution to local sports.”

“His enthusiasm towards sport was high and it was always a big pleasure to discuss with him about any sporting issue.”

The funeral will be held on Sunday 28th March at 2:30pm at the Basilica of St Helen in Birkirkara

    I was shocked that i heared that mr aquilina has passed away. he was my teacher in wardija special school, and also my same sports man teacher. he used to teach us jimnastics, take us round to portrait views, and also football he was great. we knew mr aquilina for about 5years and more after we finished from school, so i will never forget him untill i be old and die peacefully.
