This hard-fought game was decided by an injury time goal. Following this game Dingli are in third placing on 11 points from 7 games while Siggiewi are in fifth place on 6 points also from 7 games.
Dingli created the first action as Tristan Galea served Dylan Camenzuli in the area and Siggiewi keeper Nicolai Baldacchino foiled him with a timely sortie.
In the 9th minute Dingli opened the score when Camenzuli served Andre’ Cauchi with a cross from the left flank and he scored from inside the area with a rising shot in the top right hand corner.
Encouraged by such an early lead Dingli kept pressing. Ryan Abela pounced on a faulty clearance and after entering the area the ball was cleared on the line from his shot. Matthew Borg served Galea with a through ball, the latter returned the compliment to Abela on the left flank who missed the upright from the edge of the area and Kyle Gatt controlled a loose ball outside the area and Baldacchino saved his shot in two attempts.
Siggiewi reacted and mounted the last actions before the break. Keith Ciantar served Luke Cassar with a through ball outside the area and the ball missed the upright by inches from his shot. Samuel Caruana served Cassar in the area and he drove slightly over the bar. Naeem Bux Shaikli was then fouled on the right flank and Cassar drove slightly over the bar from the free kick and after Cassar was fouled outside the area the ball was cleared to a corner from the free kick by Denis Buttigieg.
The first actions after the restart were created by Siggiewi. A one-two between Buttigieg and Cassar ended with the latter entering the area and after Dingli keeper Noel Micallef partly saved his shot the ball was cleared away. Nicholas Cutajar dribbled past two opponents outside the area and the ball thumped the bar from his shot with Micallef beaten and Cutajar was fouled on the left flank, Buttigieg floated a perfect high ball in the area from the free kick and Keith Ciantar failed to apply the killer touch from a very ideal position.
In a reaction by Dingli they mounted two actions. Galea served Camenzuli with a through ball in the area but he miscued his shot and drove out and Galea the released Camenzuli on the left flank who after advancing the ball missed the far post from his cross-shot.
Siggiewi kept trying to level matters. Ciantar served substitute Samuel Vella in the area and after Micallef partly saved his shot the ball was cleared away. Cassar was put through in the area by Ciantar and Micallef denied him with a diving save and and after a similar move between the same players outside the area Micallef tipped the ball over the bar from Cassar’s hard drive.
Four minutes before the end of normal time Siggiewi equalised after a choral move between three players. Ciantar served Cassar with a through ball outside the area, the latter released Samuel Vella in the area and he scored with a hard low drive.
Siggiewi came close to score a second goal on two consecutive actions. Cassar served Samuel Vella in the area and Micallef denied him with a diving save in two attempts and Samuel Vella was then fouled outside the area and the ball missed the bar by inches from the free kick by Buttigieg.
In the second minute of added time Dingli scored a dramatic winner as they won a corner kick on the left flank which was well-taken by Dylan Camenzuli and after the ball was partly cleared outside the area Tristan Galea scored with a hard rising shot.
