Olympic roundup: Chouhal ready for 100m tomorrow morning

Following William Chetcuti’s 9th place from 24 shooters in the double trap competition, on Friday 3rd August attention will be on swimmer Nikki Muscat and sprinter Diane Borg.

At the Olympic Stadium in Heat 2 of the 100 m – women preliminaries, DIANE BORG in 12.00 seconds finishing third in her heat but with 7th best time in the prelimary round, qualified for the first round to be held later on in the day. The preliminary was won by Delphine Atangana of Cameroun in 11.71 sec. Followed by Kaina Martinez of Belize with 11.81 sec.

The first to be in action was NIKKI MUSCAT at the Aquatic Centre in Heat 5 of the 50 metres freestyle. Muscat who was sick from days prior to the event finished 4th in 27.22 sec .Ruta Meiltyte of Lithuana won the heat in 25.55 seconds followed by Nikitina Gabriela of Satvia and Pigot Chinyere of Surinam.

In the overall position following the 10 heats in programme Muscat finished in the 43rd position from 74 swimmers taking part.

On Saturday morning at the Olympic Stadium will be in action RACHID CHOUHAL in the 4th Heat of the 100m Men’s preliminary Round. Chouhal will be in lane 1 followed by Gerard Kobeane (Burundi), Patrick Tuara (Cook Island), Tilak Ram Tharu (Nepal) , Carl Williams Courtney (Virgin Islands), Nooa Takooa (Kirgistan), Fabrice Coiffic (Maurtitius) and Massoud Azizi (Afghanistan).
