Deserved win for San Ġwann

San Ġwann were the better outfit during the game and fully deserved the verdict as they were more methodical in their approaches and passing. Qormi tried very hard to operate on the break. Following this match Qormi have only one point from three games while San Gwann are on seven points from four games.
 
 The early pressure came from San Gwann. Dylan Galea served Dilon Borda on the left flank and the ball was deflected to a croner after his cross, the same player then served Nicholas Buckle on the right flank and the ball was cleared to safety following his cross and Buckle, after beating a defender, served Borda in the area and he missed the upright with his shot.
 
San Gwann forged ahead in the 6th minute when Pace was fouled just outside the area and Galea scored a beauty with arising shot from the free kick.
 
In the first action by Qormi in the 9th minute, Glenn Sammut was fouled outside the area, the ball was partly cleared from the free kick by David Formosa and San Gwann keeper Mark Vella saved the rebound shot by Sammut.
 
 In another San Gwann action, Buckle was fouled on the left flank, the free kick was taken by Justin Agius and Qormi keeper Neil Smart saved to a corner a header by Pace.
 
Qormi equalised in the 19th minute when Jean C Azzopardi dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and crossed the ball in the area and Dylan Pirotta shot the ball into the net past San Gwann keeper Mark Vella, and in anopther Qormi action minutes later Vella saved in two attempts a shot by Pirotta after he was put through by Christian Frendo.
 
The pressure from San Gwann resumed. Agius drove slightly out after he was put thriough by Dylan Azzopardi and Smart saved a header from inside the area by Borda after a coss-pass by Pace, and in the last action before the break, Vella saved  a long d-stant shot by Pirotta after a cross by Chretien Calleja.
 
Two minutes after restart San Gwann scored a second goal as Karl Mizzi dribbled past an opponent on the left edge of the area and crossed to Borda in the area who made no mistake from close range.
 
Qormi the won a corner kick on the right flank which was well-taken by Pirotta and Vella neutralised the ball, at the other end, San Gwann won a corner kick on the right flank which was taken by Agius and the ball missed the far post by inches.
 
In another action by San Gwann Buckle served Pace in the area with a cross and he headed slightly out. 
 
In the 56th minute Qormi substitute Christian Curmi was shown the yellow card for a late tackle on Pace and Galea drove slightly over the bar from the resultant free kick, four minutes later team-mate Gilmour Fenech had the same fate for a reckless tackle.
 
The pressure from San Gwann was incessant and they mounted four actions in a row. Smart saved on Buckle after a square-pass by Mizzi, he also saved a free kick by Galea after Pace was fouled outside the area, Borda then missed the up[right from inside the area after a Pace through ball and Smart had to dive at Borda’s feet in order to smother the ball after another Pace through ball.
 
In a Qormi attack Glenn Sammut was put through in the area and he was shown the yellow card for simulating a foul.
 
Three minuted before the end San Gwann put the issue beyond doubt as they scored a third goal. A one-two between Pace and Borda finished with thelatter entering the area and scored with a low shot. 
 
In the last action before the end, Borda served substitute Matthew Micallef in the area and Smart saved his effort in two attempts.
