Updated – Darmanin Demajo to rebut Mifsud’s claims this Saturday

Thursday, May 6, 2010, 17:49

The ex MFA treasurer and current Vice President of St. Andrews FC Norman Darmanin Demajo is expected to rebut claims made by the MFA President Dr. Joe Mifsud when the latter gave comments during an extensive one on one live interview in TVM’s programme Dissett earlier this week.

Darmanin Demajo to kick off his campaign this Saturdaysportinmalta.com has learnt that the prospective candidate for the top seat at the MFA will be holding a Press Event this Saturday morning at the Le Meridien Hotel in which it is believed that Darmanin Demajo will reveal further information about the alleged wrong doings by Joe Mifsud in 2006.

It is not yet known if Darmanin Demajo will accept Dr. Mifsud’s challenge, when during the said programme, Mifsud urged Darmanin Demajo to file a libel case against him for defamation after Mifsud referred to him as a liar.

Norman Darmanin Demajo will probably reveal his official line up of prospective candidates who will contest in a pre-determined block vote for all the top posts of the MFA Executive namely those of President, Vice Presidents, and Treasurer. This website is informed that the Msida SJ council member Antoine Portelli is running for the post of Treasurer.

Update: Thursday 11.40pm

In the meantime news has reached our newsroom that during the MFA monthly Council meeting which was held at the Centenary Hall in Ta’ Qali, Joe Mifsud confirmed that he will seek to be re-elected in the July 2010 Anual General Meeting of the Association.

Dr. Mifsud has been keeping his blue eyed boys in the dark, giving few or no indications whether he was to run again for the post of President after 18 years in office. The MFA President was quoted as saying ”Ma narax li sigra li taghmel il-frott ghandha tinqala u ghalhekk se nerga’ nikkontesta”

Sources close to Dr. Mifsud confirmed that the lawyer by profession opted for some medical tests before committing himself for a possible new term at the helm of the most popular sports association in Malta.

Ghal min ma jridx jisma u jiggudika minghajr ma jaf jghid li dan huwa tajn, imma ghal min irid li l-verita tohrog, ma jistax ma jfahharx lil Norman Darmanin Demajo tal-kuragg li ghandu biex jiggieled il-korruzzjoni anki jekk matul dawn is-snin kollha l-MFA baqghet ma fethitx investigazzjoni dwar l-allegazzjonijiet mressqa. Norman hadd mhu ser ihhammarlek wiccek u konvint li dalwaqt se ssir president biex tibdel il-futbol Malti.

Dede, it is about time to stop the rot and the gamorra that has been going on for too long in the MFA. Good luck and good riddance to the old guard.
