Mr.Muscat has recently flown back from the Island Games 2017 held in Gotland, Sweden, where he was representing Gibraltar in the role of national cycling team manager. The island games, also known as the friendly games, are considered as the mini Olympics with more than twenty five national teams coming from islands with a population of under 150,000 inhabitants.

Muscat’s cycling team performed above expectations placing 6th overall in the team categories with good performances from the individual members overall. Speaking on his return Mr.Muscat expressed his satisfaction not only for the brilliant performance of his team but also for taking a small piece of Malta to the island games.

Whilst Mr.Muscat explained that Malta would not be eligible to take part in such event due to the large population on the island, he stated that it would probably a perfect stage for a Gozitan team to take part. The next Island Games will be held in 2019 in Gibraltar.
