Cycling Federation Awards Champions

The Malta Cycling Federation awarded the season’s winners at the final awards night held recently at the Soreda Hotel in Qawra.  Parliamentary Secretary for Youth and Sport Dr Stefan Buontempo presented the honours to the Maltese Champions in the different categories.  In his speech to the members present Dr Buontempo  reiterated the commitment of the Government to assist local sporting associations in their efforts to promote their sports. Dr Buontempo was also presented with a memento by Cycling President Mr John Zammit who thanked Dr Buotempo for the assistance and collaboration. Mr Zammit  thanked also all the Federation officials and club delegates in the running of the cycling season and urged its athletes to continue to train hard to improve their level. He went on to announce the registration of a UCI continental team with the Maltese Federation which will be also engaging Maltese riders.  Mr Zammit augured for another successful racing season which will commence with the first club race on February 2nd, including another edition of the Tour ta’ Malta in April and coming to an end in July with the National Championships.
