Cricket Grounds Winter Wallop Cup: Impressive 158 runs for Kobras

On Saturday the Cricket Winter Wallop continued with the Krishna Kobras (needing to win to have any chance of the title) taking on the Melita Bees.

The Kobras batted first and posted another good score of 158 runs. Almost the exact total as the previous week where they lost.

Nowell Khosla retired after facing thirty balls and had made thirty nine runs, he then returned later in the innings to face five more balls in which he made sixteen runs, a top effort. Bikram Arora finally found some form and made forty runs and also retired. He hit two fours and two sixes along the way. The Kobras wish that he finds his full form in the last remaining games. Ramandeep Singh was the only other batsmen to make double figures, thirteen in all. Extras were twenty three. From the Bees Daniel Galea was fantastic taking three wickets in his two over spell. Tom Newell bowled well taking one wicket and conceding thirteen runs from his four overs. Paul Bradley was the other wicket taker.

Newell was also in the batting action making twenty three runs from aa many balls. Frank Spiteri was at his brilliant best making fifty one runs from his thirty balls faced which left his teammates a five run an over chase. Joy Ghoseroy made twelve runs and

Matt McKeogh had made nine earlier. Then in a space of four overs the game changed completely, Derek Ali was run out (nine runs), Tim Wheeler also nine runs was lbw and another run out of Paul Bradley had the Kobras right back in the game. When the eighteenth over began the Bees had two wickets to make seventeen runs. Second ball of the over a wicket falls and Spiteri walk back to the crease. Two Balls later he takes a single which brought Galea to strike. Galea was bowled and the Kobras victorious.

For the Kobras Justin Farrin-Thorne, Nowell Khosla and Kevin Krishna took two wickets each while Singh took one.

The Kobras earned sixteen points and jumped into second position. The Bees earned five points and now are third.

Next Saturday the Bees play the Marsa Magpies.

The Sunoco Cricket academy/nursery will be from 9:00am till 10:30am.
