Valletta face their toughest test of the Premier league season so far on Sunday when Hibernians turn up at the National Stadium the latter looking to move ahead of the Citizens in the league. Valletta and Hibernians have looked hugely impressive so far this season as the champions are just ninety minutes away from breaking the thirty seven unbeaten run record held by Hibernians (record in 1983)

Valletta start slightly favourites against second placed Hibernians as Mark Miller had to find the right formula for his stars after two years in the dark. Match starts at 19.00hrs

Match Day 5 starts on Friday evening as management crisis Floriana take on Marsaxlokk at the National Stadium at 18.00hrs.

Floriana are coming from a1-0 win against Hamrun Spartans and welcome back Ghanaian goalkeeper William Alamoo and will try to keep the pressure on the top two. Marsaxlokk also have fought their feet after two disappointed defeats as last Saturday they showed a positive display in the 2-2 draw against Sliema Wanderers. The southsiders welcome back hard worker Trevor Tempelman but defender Clive Brincat is still suspended for Winston Muscat.

On Friday’s second match joint bottom Hamrun Spartans take on inconsistent Qormi at 20.00hrs

The reds are in desperate need for points, a match in which a win is needed to end the winless run for coach Jesmond Zammit. The latter has no selection problems.

Qormi coach also has no selection problems and could hand the debut to Nigerian striker Daniel Nwoke who arrived last Monday. The Black and Yellows are coming from an impressive 4-1 victory against Tarxien Rainbows and a win could see them move further up the table.

On Saturday a bottom of the table clash sees Mosta take on Tarxien Rainbows in the Corradino Stadium at 17.00hrs.

Both clubs are desperate for a win as both coaches are heavily under pressure as both are coming from defeats against Valletta and Qormi respectively.

In the Second match fourth place Sliema Wanderers take on Birkirkara at 19.00hrs a game that will be broadcast live on Malta Stars channel 614.

Birkirkara’s coach Patrick Curmi is still without Rowen Muscat (might be on the bench) and Gozitian Shaun Bajada as they are in search for these important three points after a disappointing 2-2 draw against Mqabba. Sliema mentor Danilo Doncic is also without Bulgarian Daniel Mitev as he was sent off in the 2-2 draw against Marsaxlokk but welcome back former Tarxien Rainbows midfielder Ryan Grech. Although it might be too early and merely a speculation a loss for the Stripes could be the nail in coffin for Patrick Curmi as many supporters and some Club officials want back last season’s coach Paul Zammit tolead the Stripes again..

On Sunday’s first match newly promoted Mqabba and Balzan will take each other for the first time in Premier.

Both clubs seek this win as a six pointer clash as they are both on four points each. Balzan Youths coach Ivan Zammit who is still in search for the first win on the field, will be without captain Jonathan Francica as he was sent off in the 3-1 loss against Hibernians while Mqabba coach Clive Mizzi is over the moon after his squad’s last impressive 2-2 draw against Birkirkara. The modest Mqabba team led by President Mario Borg welcome back Brazilian striker Thiago Mazzitelli who will partner former Ferencevaros striker Bojan Mamic.

Hemm loghba bhal dik nhar il-Hadd bejn il-Belt u l-Hibs u fuq Malta stars se juru Birkirkara vs Sliema. Minghajr l-ebda nuqqas ta rispett lejn dawn iz-zewg timijiet, nahseb li l-partita tal-gimgha hija dik ta nhar il-Hadd. Barra minn hekk lil Sliema diga rajnijgom darba fuq Malta stars. Jew il-loghob tas-sibt biss se jibdew juru?
