Champions Bkara and runners up Valletta seek Europa success

Between today the 13th July and Thursday 15th July Birkirkara FC and Valletta FC will be hoisting their flags at the Centenary Stadium when they take on their opponents in the UEFA Champions League and the Europa League second qualifying round respectively. Birkirkara’s match is scheduled for a 6.00pm kick-off while Valletta’s will start at 5.30 pm.

Having beaten Andorra’s FC Santa Coloma with a 7-3 aggregate on 6th July after a 3-0 win awarded by UEFA in the first leg, followed by their 4-3 victory  on home soil, Paul Zammit’s team will come up against MSK Zilina of Slovakia, while the City team guided by Jesmond Zerafa will be facing Ruch Chorzow of Poland, as they make their seasonal debut in Europe.

Both teams will relish the opportunity to procure a favourable first-leg base to serve as a cushion for their away tie and hopefully secure a berth in the next phase of the respective competitions.

The Stripes’ and the Lilywhites’ supporters will definitely fill every corner of the Centenary Stadium to give their players a useful boost especially since the indications are that both opponents are on a level playing field with the locals.
