Breaking: Malta Boxing Association appoint new President

The Association’s new CEO Marc James announced that the Executive Committee have elected Michael Bonello as President of the Malta Boxing Association. The incoming President will lead the delegation of the MBA at a meeting with the Chairman of Malta Council for Sport and European Boxing Union in the coming days.

Michael Bonello is involved in different sectors mainly Real Estate, Retail, Catering and property development. The top entrepreneur takes office after working for more than fifteen years in the public and private sector during which he gained extensive knowledge in strategic communications and sustainability issues.

Michael Bonello who’s background in sport is football has served as Vice President of Sliema Wanderers 2006-11 and St Andrew Luxol 2011-13. Bonello said: “To be elected President of the boxing association and to lead a top association really is an honour and a privilege, particularly being from a relatively different sporting discipline”. Bonello emerged on the boxing scene early as 2008 when boxing re-established itself as a sport, attending and supporting promoters at every major boxing event.

The new Maltese executive committee will be presented at a press conference being held on Saturday November 1st prior to the lead up to the next event being promoted by Demis and Doulton Tonna of Prize Boxing Promotion on November 8th. A press call will issued to both the media and public.
