Following several discussions and an observation period which started in late 2014, both committees have agreed to continue to review the implications of joint promotions between the boxing and kick boxing disciplines.

Both associations respectively shall coordinate the development of the technical standards for a joint promotion while observing of international rules on both ends.

Noel Mercieca, Assistant Secretary of the newly formed Malta Kickboxing Association, commented that the agreement reached last week is fundamental and provides strength to both sport disciplines.

The associations have now agreed to join their efforts in order to effectively implement the joint promotions project smoothly and leave a positive trail on their agendas while offering additional required attention to those athletes taking part in both boxing and kickboxing bouts. Marc James praised the strong commitment of the MKBA to provide its athletes with a life insurance as the MBA.

The MBA highlighted the substantial progress which the majority of local kickboxing clubs have made throughout the past year following the launch of the Malta Kickboxing Association as well as the acquisition of a recognition by an international governing body.
