The BOV Water Polo Winter League 2018 will kick off on the 16th March with 6 teams competing in the BOV Premier Division and 4 teams competing for the First Division title.

The fixtures were drawn during a press conference held at the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta boardroom and addressed by ASA President Joe Caruana Curran and Anthony Scicluna, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta.

‘The National Team has just returned from its participation in the LEN Europa Cup where we faced the might of Serbia and Croatia, 2 of the top teams in the world,’ said Mr Caruana Curran. ‘Although the score-sheets reflected the supremacy of these teams, our players got to experience top-class water polo which will definitely prove beneficial in our upcoming play-off qualifier for the European Championships 2018 against Belarus in Minsk this coming Saturday 24th February.’.

‘The introduction of the Enemed Cup this year is another step towards making water polo an all-year-round sport thus keeping our players in top form throughout the year with the fans having the opportunity to follow their favourite team for three major competitions’, continued the ASA President.

‘As a proud member of the Maltese Community and long standing supporters of the ASA, we take this opportunity to augur a successful qualification to the National Team’, said Mr Anthony Scicluna. ‘This year’s BOV Water Polo Winter League promises to be even more competitive with the teams preparation through the Enemed Cup and we are looking forward to crown this year’s BOV Water Polo Winter league champions on the 1st of May’.

The ASA, in collaboration with all the clubs, reserves the right to move the dates and times of matches as deemed necessary. The final fixtures with the dates and times of all matches will be issued shortly by the ASA.
