Today Hibernians FC and Qormi FC faced each other at the Hibernians Stadium to finish off matchday number 7 in this year’s BOV Premier League Season 2010-11. Hibernians FC have faced problems this season as they only have 6 points out of 7matches resulting from 3 defeats, 3 draws and 1 win. Their only win was 2 months ago in their very first Premier League match against Floriana on the 11th September. Qormi FC now have 8 points out of seven matches coming from  3 losses, 2 draws and 2 wins. Qormi have failed to score in their last 2 encounters against Qormi and Sliema W. Hibernians have the worst defence together with Hamrun and Birkirkara where they conceded a total of 13 goals. Ironically, during last season 2009-2010, both Qormi FC and Hibernians FC were at the top of the league table with Valletta FC with a total of 13 points after six premier league encounters.

Qormi and Hibernians have met 6 times so far since when Qormi FC returned to the Premier League last season. Hibernians have won 3 matches, Qormi have won 2 and 1 draw.

Matthew Bartolo and Ben Camilleri are two ex-Hibernians players. Stephen Azzopardi has encountered Hibernians 27 times: he won 14 matches, lost 8 matches and drew 5 matches.

Hibernians FC coach Mark Miller did some changes to his team: when one takes a look at the last line up of Hibernians when they were defeated to promoted Vittoriosa FC with a 2-0 score on Sunday 31st October, one notices immediately Andrew Cohen, and Edward Herrera on the bench. Miller preferred to include in his first eleven central defender Aaron Xuereb.

On the other hand, Qormi FC coach Stephen Azzopardi opted to include Matthew Bartolo, Stefan Giglio and foreigner Kang Hojung whilst George Mallia, Vinicous Da Silva and Ben Camilleri are watching the match from the bench.

FIFA referee Clayton Pisani has controlled Hibernians once this season -in their 2-2 draw against Valletta. To date, Pisani controlled Qormi FC in the Premier division 5 times: 4 losses and 1 draw. Qormi FC never won under referee Pisani.

Hibernians FC player Matthew Clarke is the only player on the pitch with 3 yellow cards. Also, Hibernians have not managed to keep one clean sheet throughout their past six encounters this season.

Mario Muscat and Matthew Clarke are the only two players for the Paolites  who have played all the games in full so far. The same applies for Matthew Farrugia and Jason Lee for Qormi FC.

First Half:

3 min: Scottish striker Paul Mc Manus’ effort went off target.

67min: Nigerian winger Abubaker’s turn shot nearly missed the woodwork.

75min: Matthew Bartolo goes close to open the score for this match when his 25 yard effort skimmed the post.

78min: Ex-Birkirkara FC player George Mallia leaves the pitch with a hamstring injury after only 12 minutes playing time, when he had substituted Kang Hojung on the 67th minute.

82min: Qormi FC coach decides to substitute Kosta Byedov with Joseph Chetcuti. It is the sixth time that Joseph Chetucti has not started a match this season and he is coming in to play as a substitute.
