In line with it commitment towards excellence in sports, Bank of Valletta, in collaboration with the Malta basketball Association, is supporting the Basketball Player of the Month awards.

The first individual awards for the BOV Basketball Season 2014/2015 went to David Bugeja (Falken Cynergi Virtus) for the Men’s 1st Division, Thomas Grech (Starlites) for the Men’s 2nd Division while the Female award went to Caffe Moak Luxol’s Sarah Pace.

David Bugeja is one of Virtus’ coach Paul Ferrante ace up his sleeve. Averaging 59% from the field and 29% from the distance, Bugeja totalled 58 points during October averaging 19.33 points per game. This was the first time that Bugeja won this honor.

With 19.33 points per game, Thomas Grech was an automatic choice for the BOV Men’s 2nd Division Award. With 62% from the free throw line, 53% from the field and 67% in three point shots, Grech also suffered 4 fouls per game with his aggressive attacking style.

Sarah Pace was the queen from the distance with 7 three pointers (33%) during the month. She also averaged 67% in free throws and 50% from the field for a total of 53 points in 4 games (13.25 ppg). This is Sarah’s fifth individual award in her career, having received 3 awards while playing for Depiro, this being her second award since playing for Luxol.

Peter Perotti from Bank of Valletta congratulated the winners while presenting a commemorative plaque to each of the players for their achievement.
