BOV Basketball Players of the Month (November 2016)

Hibernians forward Alvaro Lizaur won the BOV Basketball Player of the Month award for November 2016. The 6 ft 7” Spaniard averaged 33ppg during November obtaining 99 points from three games while averaging 15 rebounds per game. Alvaro is the first Hibernians player to win the monthly award since April 1990 when the award was won by Silvio Cassar.

American Amelia Simmons landed her fourth individual award since joining Athleta in 2014. Amelia scored 39 points in Athleta’s two games during November (19.5ppg) and is also the Women’s League top rebounder averaging 14.38 rebounds per game accompanied by 2.38 steals.

Siggiewi St Nicholas’ Hubert Agius won the monthly award for the BOV Men’s 2nd Division. A strong rebounder, averaging 14.4 rebounds per game, Hubert also averaged 10.6 points per game with 32 points obtained during November. This is Hubert’s second award. He had received the first one in February 2008.

Peter Perotti, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta presented the winners with a commemorative plaque in the presence of Paul Sultana, President of the Malta Basketball Association.
