Falken Cynergi Virtus’ Chris Santo is the BOV Basketball Men’s First Division Player of the Month for February 2016. Santo who graduated from US college basketball last season, is in his first season as a professional player. Santo averaged 27.6 points per game (138 points from 5 matches) and scored 77% of his free throws (37 from 48). He has helped Virtus maintain their unbeaten run in the BOV 1st Division League and is a nightmare to the opponents’ defence drawing 7.4 fouls per game (37 fouls in 5 games).


Electrofix Hibernians Josephine Grima won the Women’s award for February. The veteran who has played in top-flight Italian Basketball, Slovakia and France and in Sweden during the last season. Grima is the season’s top rebounder with and average of 11 rebounds per game. Josephine averaged 16.60 ppg in February (83 from 5 matches) including a game high of 22 in Hibs win over Floriana. This is the second time that Josephine has won the award, her first time coming in the year 2000 when playing for Depiro.


Frank Salt Phoenix’s Jonathan Ransley won the award for the BOV Men’s 2nd Division. The long-term Phoenix player and also team captain averaged 46% from the field (13 from 28) and has also suffered 4.50 fouls per game (9 fouls in 2 games)


Peter Perotti, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta presented a commemorative plaque to the winners.
