BOV Basketball Knockout Competitions for another 3 years

Bank of Valletta has signed another agreement with the Malta Basketball Association, extending its sponsorship of the MBA Knockout competitions for men and for women for the next three consecutive basketball seasons (2009/2010, 2010/2011 and 2011/2012)

The agreement was signed by Igino Xuereb, Chief Officer Operations at Bank of Valletta and Stephen Muscat, Financial Controller of the Malta Basketball Association in the presence of Frank Camilleri, Secretary General of the MBA during a press conference held at Bank of Valletta’s Head Office in Santa Venera.

“Bank of Valletta has become synonymous with the Basketball Knockout Competitions in Malta where the Bank’s collaboration with the Malta Basketball Association dates back to the 1970’s” said Mr Xuereb during the signing of the agreement. “Through this agreement, the Bank is also extending its support to the Mini Basket Programme where a good number of our future stars are introduced to the game”.

“Most of the younger generation of basketball players today have benefitted from the training received in the BOV Basketball Mini Basket Academy and we are confident that we will achieve further successes in the international scene as the ones currently enjoyed by the Female National Team” said Stephen Muscat. “Our long standing relationship with Bank of Valletta has enabled us to plan in the long term for the success of the sport on our islands”.

    I would like to know what the clubs in Malta have benefit from such a sponsorship? While in football, clubs get cash bonus in lieu of placing, in Basketball such sponsorship are at the mercy of the President Council.
