During the weekend of the 13th and 14th of March, the Attard Subbuteo Club organized the Challenger and Satellite Tournaments under the auspicious of the FISTF.
Both these competitions where held at the Tumas Dingli primary school in Attard and the participation was very encouraging for the organizers.
On Saturday the Challenger Tournament was held and in the Open category, George Ebejer (Bormla SC) beat Jason Pisani (Attard SC) by the score of 3-2 in sudden death. Mauro Camilleri (Bormla SC) and Steve Austin (Spezia TFC) where the semifinalists.
The Under 19 category saw Darren Bezzina (Hamrun TFC) finishing first, closely followed by Andrew Abela (Valletta SC).
In the Veteran category, Steve Austin (Spezia TFC) finished first and Anthony Sapiano (Attard SC) second.
The Satellite Tournament was held on Sunday and in the Open Category Samuel Bartolo (CCT Roma) who had a very good tournament beat Josef Camilleri (Bormla SC) 5-1. Jason Pisani (Attard SC) and Matthew Sapiano (Hamrun TFC) where the semifinalists.
In the Under 19 category, Darren Carabott finished winner, with Darren Bezzina runner up. Both these players, play for the Hamrun Table Football Club.
Once again in the Veteran category, Steve Austin finished first, with Anthony Sapiano second, on goal difference.
In the Team category, four teams took part and Bormla SC “A” finished first, Bormla SC “B” second and Attard SC third. The other team taking part was Msida SJ.SC.
For the first time an Under 12 category was held. Two players took part and Neil Mark Bonnici (Bormla SC) beat Micwen Gauci (Msida SJ.SC) 2-0. Both players where awarded a small token for participating.
Both Open finals were refereed by Anthony Sapiano, President of the MTFSA. The Attard Subbuteo Club committee thanked Bormla SC and Valletta SC for helping them with the equipment.
