Bkara 2

Metalurg Skopje 2

Paul Zammit was right ! He was right indeed when he decided to field experimental sides in the local EURO Cup. He was the talk of the town back at the Stripes’ Club house for having conceded heavy defeats to Hibs and Valletta respectively. But it seems that the Bkara mentor had a yet another plan of his own. He was focused on how to play a splendid game which saw his side register a prestigious 2-2 home draw against Metalurg Skopje of Macedonia.

Bkara opened terrifically bad as they conceded an early goal to their guests just after 120 second of play when Nestorovski scored to beat a helpless Gauci.

In the second half Jorge Santos leveled matters to 1-1 but less than a minute from this draw the Sripes went again a goal down when Curlinov made the score line 2-1 for the Macedonian side.

Super sub Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza who came in on the 76th minute mark to replace Dos Reis scored the 4th and all important goal for the home side for the final score 2-2.

The game which was played at the Hibs Stadium was attended by a good crowd who were not charged at the doors, a positive initiative from Birkirkara FC.

Birkirkara will leave Malta this Tuesday and will play the return leg on Thursday.

Birkirkara FC: R.Gauci, R.Pereira, P.Fenech, S.Shodija Haruna, N.Vukanac, R.Camenzuli, J.Dos Reis (JP.Mifsud Triganza 76min), J.Zerafa, R.Scicluna (F.Zammit 89min), J.Santos, R. Muscat.

Referee:  Ivalyo Stoyanov (Bulgaria)

It would be interesting if line-ups in football and waterpolo articles also include coaches names and attendence.
