Birkirkara lost a very important opportunity to go 3 points clear of Valletta at the top of the table when they were held to a draw by Tarxien Rainbows. Still this draw leaves the stripes one point ahead of the City.

Both teams had players missing due to suspension namely Grioli and Magro for the blues whilst missing for the stripes were Muscat and Cilia. On 17mins Tarxien went 1-0 up with a close shot by Calabretta after great work by Dos Santos on the right.

Birkirkara immediately levelled the score 1-1 with a close header by Bajada . Tarxien managed yet another goal with Calabretta to register a brace for 2-1. Birkirkara were close again to score with a header by Galea hitting the post but was ruled offside. HT score 2-1.

At the start of the second half no substitutions were affected. After just seven minutes from the start of the second Half Noel Coleiro’s team went two goals up with a header by Ribeiro who anticipated Mora making the score 3-1.

Birkirkara scored to make them 3-2 with a fine strike from a direct free kick by Sean Bajada. The stripes kept on pressing for the draw and succeeded eventually with a close header by Michael Galea to beat Curmi for the 3-3 which was to be the final score.
