Birkirkara, Hamrun Spartans earn a point each in a balanced match

Second place  Hamrun Spartans and fourth place Birkirkara earned a point each in a very balanced match. Champions Birkirkara open the score thanks to Michael Galea header on the 22nd minute. Four minutes later Marcelo Pereira level the score after a Michael Fraser blunder.

 Hamrun was coming from 4-3 winning thrill against 2008/2009 Champions Hiberians, while Birkara had suffer their second defeat against south siders Marsaxlokk 5-2 thanks to four goal haul Alfred Effiong. Steve D’Amato started an initial 4-2-3-1 with Nigerian Peter Anizoba confirmed as a lone striker after his 2 goal debut. Paul Zammit opted for a 4-3-3 formation. Michael Fraser started in goal to mark his debut. Andrew Decesare and Ryan Scicluna started instead Emiliano Lattes and Ryan Harding after their humiliated defeat.

First Half

11min: First substituted of the game! Lattes in for Trevor Cilia.

22min: Michael Galea header hit the back of the net thanks to Andre Decesare free kick.

26min: Marcelo Perreira equalised for the Spartans after Michael Fraser blunder.

36min: A lovely chip by Paul Fenech from half pitch just missed the post.

45min: Big tension at the Hamrun clan as Ivan Casha and Massimo Grima argument and near starts a brawl between the two Hamrun Players.

Second Half

61min: Geatan Spiteri first timer shot  just hit wide from a left cross by Brazilian Marcelo Pereira

66min: Emiliano Lattes rising shot skimmed the post.

69min: Michael Galea miss the chance of his career to put the Stripes in the lead when he put the ball the wrong direction instead just to back pass it in the net with Ivan Casha helpless.
