Birkirkara were mathematically crowned Champions of the 2009/10 season after they won their penultimate match against a depleted Tarxien with a narrow 1-0 scoreline.

Carmelo Gauci the new Birkirkara President, who took the helm of the Stripes committee earlier this season, has made history for his Club as he managed to lead his team to another title in his first year as mentor.

Noel Coleiro couldn’t utilise his regular captain and vice captain, as both Sadovski and Caruana were suspended. Tarxien’s central defender Anderson Mendes Pereira and striker Ribeiro were also out of action due to suspension and injury respectively. Carlo Mamo was missing for the Stripes after he fractured his hand last Sunday against Hibernians.

Paul Zammit’s players were totally in control of the match from the initial whistle. The Stripes created an incredible number of  chances before scoring the only goal of the match in the 39th minute with a fine strike by Shaun Bajada.

Tarxien failed to create any counter attacks thus conceding Zammit’s players a lot of ball possession.

The final whistle was followed by spontaneous celebrations by the Birkirkara players, technical staff and supporters who afterwards continued their partying in their home town.

This is the third Championship title won by Birkirkara.

Prosit lil Birkirkara F.C li kienu konsistenti matul il-kampjonat u haqqhom jirbhu il-League Malti. Tim zaghzugh u mimli talent li nispera naraw iktar players min dan it-tim involuti fin-nazzjonal.

Shaun Bajada kif rajtu kellu stagun tajjeb hafna hu huwa playmaker ta certu klassi u nispera li narawh jilghab f’dik il-posizzjoni ma Malta u mhux bhala left back. Hela ta risorsi

Nixtieq nara ukoll lil Michael Galea man-Nazzjonal li huwa player li jilghab bil-qalb kontra hafna u jaghti kollox ghal flokk. Nahseb li ghad fadallu cans li jigi nvolut man-nazzjonal.

Nilghabu u ninvolvu  ukoll iktar lil dawn iz-zaghzagh biex jilghabu man-nazzjonal. L-esperjenza mhiex kollox imma l-entuzjazmu,grinta u l-hegga li jaghtu certu zaghzagh anke under 20s ghandha taghti refurbishment u arja friska lit-tim Malti.

Jiena nsaqsi! Ghaliex player tipo Rowen Muscat(senza offiza) ma jinkluduhx mat-team nazzjonali Malti tal-kbar wara stagun bhal dan li kellu parti u rwol importanti ghar-rebh tal-kampjonat?
