Birkirkara protest not upheld by MFA Protests Board

The MFA Protests Board turned down a protsest by Birkirkara FC against the result of the BOV POremier League match against Tarxien Rainbows, claiming that referee Adrian Azzopardi committed a technical error.

The result – a 3-2 win for Tarxien – is therefore to stand.

The Stripes had claimed that on the 66th minute, the referee ordered a throw-in in favour of Tarxien and as the player was giving the throw-in, a Birkirkara player was removing another ball off the field of play therefore leaving a Tarxien striker unmarked. This led to Tarxien’s third goal less than thirty seconds later. Rodrigo Andreis Galvao scored the goal which handed Tarxien the three points.
