Paul Fenech to leave the Stripes after five years

Premier League club Mosta FC reached a verbal agreement with Birkirkara duo Paul Fenech and Angus Buhagiar to join them for the next season. Paul Fenech 26, will add more influence to Mosta’s midfield after the departure of foreigners Florent Raimy and Predrag Mirceta as the duo was not confirmed. According to a Mosta spokesman, the former Naxxar Lions and Msida St Joseph player will join the Blues for good after a successful five years with the Stripes.

Also, according to the same Mosta spokesman, the Blues reached an agreement to sign versatile player Angus Buhgiar and the club will pay the parameters after the new Birkirkara committee will be elected. The 25 year old’s contract will end at the end of the month.

Mosta were also given the green light by Floriana to start contract talks with Christian Caruana better known as ‘il-boqli’. According to the Floriana PRO, the club accepted the enquiry by Mosta FC last month. It is now expected that the 26 year old will speak with Mosta in the coming days.

Moreover, Mosta will not retain promising midfielder Sheldon Grech.

Sliema Wanderers are set to start contract talks with John Mintoff after his contract will be up by the end of the month. The 22 year-old was on loan with Floriana last season but now he’s expected to return to his beloved club after he was forced out by former president Steve Abela.

Sliema Wanderers are also set to give another chance to youngster James Paris. The 21 year old started last season with Mqabba but he took a break from the game after just two months in the season. Defender Luca Martinelli is also set to feature in Clive Mizzi’s plans after some loan stints in the past with Melita and Mosta.

Another nursery player, Miguel Ciantar reached an agreement with the Sliema president for a new contract and will sign for them in the coming days.
