Birkirkara and Sliema Wanderers share the spoils

With a 1-1 scoreline, Birkirkara managed only a draw against Sliema Wanderers to earn one point in Saturday’s second match at the National Stadium Ta Qali.

Josef Mifsud put the Blues in the lead as he headed in early in the game. Minutes later Jorge Santos Silva equalizes as he curled in a powerful shot. Birkiara had the chance to take the three points, but Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza saw his eleven meter shot saved by Henry Bonello.

Birkirkara now have 26 points, two adrift of Floriana, as the Wanderers stay fifth with 20 points.

Birkirkkara mentor Paul Zammit opted for a 4-3-3 formation as Ryan Scicluna and Jorge Santos Silva supported central striker Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza who replaced suspended Shola Shodiya.

Danilo Doncic opted for a 4-1-4-1 formation as Nigerian Jerry Ani was preferred as lone striker supported by Emiliano Lattes and Alex Muscat on the wimgs. Andrew Decesare was making his full debut/return for the Blues as he was recently injured.

Second Half

51min: Penalty for Birkirkara!!!! Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza saw his eleven meter shot saved by Bonello. It was Bonello’s second consecutive penalty saved this season.
