Ball rolling for Luxol Futsal prior to Main Round coming up

Luxol St Andrews Futsal Club UEFA Futsal Champions League journey this season continues as preparations are underway for Main Round following their joyful experience in Tromso, Norway winning their group claiming a remarkable three winnable results to Qualify to the Main Round.

The team is training incessantly under the flawless supervision of Romanian coach Gabriel Dobre as the Main Round appointment is swiftly beckoning – a very tough group awaits the Maltese Futsal Champions as they pursue a difficult Qualification to the Elite Round (last sixteen), notwithstanding their top and more realistic target to amass more than the three points obtained in their last Main Round appearance two years ago, following their 5-2 win over Bosnian champions FC Mostar in Deva, Romania back in 2017.

The Super Cup against Valletta FC Futsal that is the curtain raiser for the new domestic season on Friday week, September 27th, is regarded as an opportunity for both sides to pursue more honours, while indeed for Luxol this contest could also be considered as a dress rehearsel for what lies ahead representing Malta in a glamorous competition like the Futsal Champions League.

In their Path B Main Round Group 5 to be played in the Czech capital Prague in the second week of October, Luxol St.Andrews face Bielsko-Biała from Poland, Romanian side Csíkszeredai Sportklub, and hosts AC Sparta Praha, a clear hard nut to crack for the Maltese Champions against giants in the Futsal World.

Meanhwile, Luxol officials mainly Joseph Karl Aquilina in his role of Chairman, Mario Vella as President, Jose da Silva as Vice President, together with Technical Director Nathaniel Jones are working relentlessly around the clock to strengthen this already powerful group of players, notwithstanding the setback of possibly losing Slovenian talisman Dejan Bizjak to be replaced with a likewise Futsal star who is still unnamed as negotiations are still ongoing.

Meanwhile in the build-up for Luxol’s Main Round mission in Prague a visit to Opposition Leader Hon. Dr. Adrian Delia is already lined-up for Monday 7th of October.

The UEFA Futsal Champions League Main Round runs from the 8th to the 13th of October, deciding the 16 Elite Round contenders, this round is split between Path A and B.

Path A yields the opportunity to the top three in each group to progress to the elite round, whereas 16 teams (including Luxol and the rest of preliminary round qualifiers) are in Path B, with only the four group winners to progress.

Group 8 (9–12 October): Pesaro (ITA), Uddevalla (SWE, hosts), Georgians Tbilisi (GEO), Weilimdorf (GER)
