Preparations for World Badminton School Championships in full swing

Badminton Malta’s junior squads recently underwent a 2-week intensive training camp, as part of their final preparation for the ISF (International School Sports Federation) World Badminton School Championships which are being held in Malta for the first time at the end of March.

The training camp was conducted by experienced international high-performance junior coach Lukas Kroc, from the Czech Republic, and his assistant Martina Fartagova, who run their own badminton academy, SUPER STARS MOST. This is their 3rd such visit to Malta.

Nine players and their coaches, underwent daily sessions, including court practice, technique, fitness sessions, yoga sessions, class room discussions and as well as a team building activity, a treasure hunt in Mdina was included in the program.

In a short comment just over a week from commencement of this camp, Kroc expressed his satisfaction at the big improvement of this group of players. “Allow me to say, that probably on a European Junior Level, it is the biggest improvement over a short span of time I have seen in these recent years”. He also had words of praise for the coaches who show that they are totally dedicated and committed towards bringing these athletes’ game to another level. With regards to the Federation’s work, he commented that this group of people show they have a lot of energy, enthusiasm, synergy in what they do, and that they have clear visible objectives.

Kroc continued to say how impressed he was with the improvement even on the level of commitment of the players and said that, given more international exposure, they could compete with the top juniors in Europe.

From its end, Badminton Malta expressed its gratitude to both Kroc and Fartagova for their professionalism and dedication.

Badminton Malta also took the opportunity to thank the SPORTMALTA, the Malta Olympic Committee and the University of Malta, for its support throughout the event.
