Badminton Malta holds Active Badminton Basics Course

Badminton Malta has recently organised an Active Badminton Basics Course held by one of the most experienced coaches in Scotland, Mr Billy Fulton. 35 participants, made up of PE Teachers, KMS Coaches/Instructors and Badminton Players took part in this event.

The course is designed to teach beginners the basics of badmintons whilst enjoying themselves. It consisted of fun games on and off court, introducing basic badminton strokes, correct grip and serving.

One of the most important aspects of the course is that it forces players to think of what they are doing.

There is no written exam, so the course is totally practical.

Those who took part worked in various groups, made up of 3 to 4 players, and one-by-one were asked to lead the group. The emphasis was on making coaching fun in order to try and get children to take up the sport, whilst raising the coaches’ knowledge of the game.

Needless to say, the course was a success as the participants were totally involved in the development of the games during on court and off court sessions. Health and safety awareness was also included as one of the topics. At the end of the course all the participants were presented with certificates. Badminton Malta expresses gratitude to Mr Billy Fulton and Badminton Scotland who are always on the forefront in helping the local Association with the development of the coaches and players.
