Marsaxlokk reached an agreement to sign former Sliema Wanders striker Obinna Obiefule on a one year deal according to a top Marsaxlokk committee member.

At the beginning of summer, the Nigerian had a trial in Norway but  last week he started training with the southseasiders. The twenty six year old will continue to enhance the Marsaxlokk squad after the signing of Argentinean Emilliano Lattes, the promising Sacha Borg from Floriana, playmaker Jean Paul Farrugia, defender Jonathan Xerri both from Hibernians and towering defender Partrick Borg from Birkirkara.

Marsaxlokk will target a top six finish for the second consecutive year.

Backhaus ends up his contract with Hamrun

German midfielder Heiner Backaus is set to end up his contract with Hamrun Spartans after he held an urgent meeting with top Hamrun Spartans committee members.

The former Valletta midfielder, a championship winner with the Citizens three years ago, joined the Reds two months ago and also had an impressive performance during the pre-season. The twenty nine year old is set to return to his homeland. He is citing personal and family reasons for his decision. The German is still in Malta holidaying.
