Next Sunday the Assocjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi will continue with the autocross races of the National ASMK-Pasta Poiatti 2017/2018. The program begins at 12:00 pm at the ASMK Sports Complex at Ta’ Qali.

Grech and Scicluna win in Autocross

Meanwhile after the Easter Holidays break the Association continued with the races as planned. On Saturday afternoon of the 7th April 2018 ASMK organized the two Autocross Finals of event number three which were postponed on that day. The results of these finals are as follows: -

In the Autocross Modified Class A Final Jean Paul Grech on his Peugeot 106 along with Andrew Pisani on a Vauxhall Nova made a good start where Grech followed by Pisani took the lead of the race. Just after the second lap Pisani began to slow down and retired from the race. Soon Karl Micallef on Ford Fiesta followed by Noel Zammit on Fiat Punto occupied the 2nd and 3rd placings on track. During the rest of the race final we saw all drivers defending their placing to the end. Besides all this the final result shows Grech as the Class winner while Micallef and Zammit followed in 2nd and 3rdplaces respectively. Fourth and fifth place holders were Andrew Pisani and Vince Farrugia on a Volkswagen Polo.

In the final race of Autocross Modified Class B we saw a very good start from Gary Grech on his Opel Corsa along with Kieth Borg on a Vauxhall Nova and Ryan Scicluna on Ford Fiesta. During the first lap saw the cars took their place. Scicluna managed to take the lead of this race final ahead of Grech and Borg. However during this final we had no other changes in positions. The final result shows that Scicluna is the winner while Grech and Borg followed in 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Fourth place was won by Brandon Lee Vassallo on his Peugeot 205.

Paul Muscat wins all Motocross Class A

On Sunday 8th April 2018 the Association organized the championship’s sixth event of the Motocross National Championship for 2017/2018. The event was held at the ASMK Sports Complex at Ta’ Qali ASMK where 20 competitors divided into three classes were registered for this event.

The Day began with the compulsory practice time for all before starting the qualification races of the day. During the qualifying Heats Paul Muscat riding on a Yamaha registered the best time of the day by covering his fastest lap among all in 1 minute 22.88 seconds. Paul was followed by Trevor Muscat riding a Husqvarna but with a difference of 13.925 seconds.

During the two Heats of the day we continued to see Paul Muscat to continue to dominate the class A when he managed to also win the two qualifying rounds of the day by registering his first win of this season too. Muscat won this event ahead of Clayton Camilleri on a KTM and Trevor Muscat on a Husqvarna. Fourth and fifth place finishers were Kyle Camilleri on a KTM and Chris Muscat also on a KTM. Sixth place was won by young Mark Mamo on a Yamaha motorcycle.

In Class B where Bernard Sammut rides a Beta dominated the qualifying in session in his class with his best of all lap time of 1 minute 30.574 seconds. Sammut was followed by Gary Debono on a Sherco motorcycle with 19.335 seconds more than the time of Sammut.

In the Veteran Motocross Class Jethro Sant riding  on a Yamaha motorcycle dominated the qualifying race with his best time of 1 minute 36.929 seconds. Sant was followed by the KTM motorcycle driven by Paul Deguara with 0.551 seconds following Sant. In this Veterans MX Class we had these results. Paul Deguara on KTM once again dominated this class on his Yamaha. Deguara was followed by Jethro Sant and Daniel Bonnici on a KTM. Fourth and fifth place finishers were Andrew Cassar on a KTM and the Honda of William Sant. Joseph Azzopardi placed sixth on his Yamaha.
