At a Press Conference held this morning Joe Caruana Curran thanked BOV for their continued support and increased budget over three years focussing on youth development in water polo. BOV Chief Officer Anthony Scicluna said that the bank was proud to be associated with the ASA and was looking forward to a very interesting Winter League, followed by an even more competitive summer competition.

  1. The draws for the BOV Winter League were held and the first matches to be held on Thursday 30th March would be Sliema Betsson vs San Giljan and Sirens vs Valletta McDonald’s. The full fixtures are being sent under separate cover.
  2. After many years, the ASA would be rebranding and Bloom Creative had been commissioned with this job. A presentation of the new ASA logo was shown at the PC.
  3. Both swimming and water polo have an important year ahead of them. This May the ASA Swimming National Team would be participating in the GSSE in San Marino in May with the biggest contingent of swimmers in the squad. Joe Caruana Curran thanked the MOC for their support and was very pleased that the ASA was one of two associations earmarked to be the biggest beneficiaries up to the GSSE 2023 which should be held in Malta. On the other hand the focus for water polo was the European Championships to be held in Barcelona in 2018 where the ASA has high hopes to be represented by both the men’s and the women’s senior teams.
