The Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday 30th November 2017 in the ASA Boardroom at the Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex. During his report for 2017, Joe Caruana Curran, ASA President congratulated all those teams who in some way or form excelled in the name of their club or the ASA. He stated that it had been a very successful year for the ASA who hosted the COMEN Swimming Cup in June and the LEN European Junior Water Polo Championships in September. On the local scene a number of water polo teams participated in both women’s and men’s senior and junior competitions throughout the summer months, while swimming time trials were held every three weeks throughout the year ending with the National Championships in July. The National Team Swimmers who participated in the Games for the Small States of Europe in San Marino won 7 medals whilst also obtaining some very interesting results during the international competitions they participated in.

Following the success in swimming and water polo, both on the local and international scene, support for the ASA had increased and sponsorship agreements were concluded with Bank of Valletta, the Malta Gaming Authority, Guess and VisitMalta. The Maltese Olympic Committee also increased the funding for the preparation of the National Team Swimmers.

Mark Galea and Rita Azzopardi were re-elected as Vice President Swimming and General Secretary respectively.

Various proposed amendments to the rules were discussed and approved.
