Five National Team girls aged 15 to 18 brought home two bronze medals from the 6th Ukrainian Open held in Kharkiv in Ukraine from the 11th to the 17th December 2018.

Alessia Cardona Taliana won a bronze medal in the Solo Free with a score of 63.8, improving her PB by three points since her last competition.

In the Duet Free, Alessia together with Ingrid Djincharadze and Kirsty Calleja (reserve) again placed third and won the bronze medal with a score of 64.1 which is also a personal best.

It was the first ever medal to be achieved for Malta from such a high-level competition and from the FINA Senior Age group with participants from Poland, Switzerland, Ukraine National Teams as well Senior Ukrainian Regions participating.

Ana Culic and Vanessa Mairangas who are both 15 years old presented a difficult choreography with high level hybrids in the Duet Free.  This was the first time they participated in a Senior Programme and they achieved a very promising result of 63.5.  This was in line with the plan of participating to the European Juniors in St Petersburg later on this season.

Albertina Onsea – Coach and Loredana Cassone – National Judge/Team Manager accompanied the girls to the event.
