APS Bank Under 17 Section C 2 Easy game for Spartans Attard 0 Hamrun S 7

The final result is a clear indication that Hamrun had a very easy task to overcome the feeble challenge offered by Attard who were rarely in the game. The Spartans are on maximum points from two games while Attard are pointless from the same number of games.

The pressure from Hamrun commenced from the very first whistle. Bradley Schembri released Miguel Simiana in the area but he failed to control the ball and Schembri then had a run down the left flank and Attard keeper Stefan Curmi neutralized the ball after his low cross, and minutes later Curmi had to dive and save a header by Kieran Bugeja after he was put through in the area by Nathan Hili.

Stefmar Hatherly was fouled outside the area, Daniel Debono served Hili with a short pass from the free kick who after advancing on the left flank the ball was headed away following his dangerous cross, and in the 12thminute Hatherly was very unlucky when he entered the area, dribbled past two defenders and also past the on-rushing keeper and the ball was cleared on the line in the nick of time by Keith Farrugia.

In the 20th minute Hamrun opened the score as they won a corner kick on the right flank which was well-taken by Simiana and Bugeja netted with a low drive.

In the first action by Attard in the 22nd minute Gianluca Ebejer served Jaron Shembri with a long throw-in from right flank and he drove over the bar from the edge of the area.

Hamrun doubled their lead in the 23rd minute when Hatherly released Ryan Borg in the area and as Curmi came out of his charge to narrow the angle he chipped the ball over him and into the net, and as the pressure by Hamrun was incessant they added two more goals before the half time whistle between the 33rd and 36th minutes. Ryan Borg scored with a hard rising shot from the edge of the area after pouncing on a faulty clearance and Jeremy Busuttil also scored with a hard rising shot from outside the area after dribbling past an opponent.

Although the Spartans eased their pressure after the resumption they still managed to add three further goals to their tally. In the first action they won  a corner kick on the right which was taken by Simiana and the ball was headed away, the same player was then fouled outside the area and after the free kick by Debono, Ryan Borg headed slightly out from inside the area.

In the 49th minute Simiana made it 5-0 as he entered the area and scored with a hard low drive after being put through by Christian Mifsud. In another two actions by Hamrun,Christian Mifsud served Simiana with a cross from the right flank and the ball was cleared to a corner from his low drive and Rhys Mifsud pounced on a loose just outside the area and Curmi tipped the ball over the bar following his high and hard drive.

The score became 6-0 in the 67th minute as Debono served Hili with a square pass outside the area and he scored a beauty with a hard rising shot, and in the only action by Attard Nicolai Sammut was fouled outside the area and Gianluca Ebejer drove over the bar from the free kick.

A minute before the end Hamrun scored their seventh and final goal as Schembri released Christian Mifsud in the area who scored with a hard and low shot.
