Ghaxaq managed to turn defeat into victory after being a goal in arrears early in the first period as they managed to restore equilibrium in the first period and scoring the winner after the resumption. Following this game Ghaxaq are on 16 points from 6 games while Sirens are on 9 points also from 6 games.

The first action was created by Sirens as they won a corner kick on the right flank which was well-taken by Gabriel Galea and the ball was cleared away with difficulty, and in their next action in the 4th minute they opened the score when Haron Riani crossed the ball from the right flank in the area and an Ghaxaq defender handled the ball and Galea converted from the spot beating Ghaxaq keeper Liam Attard with a hard low drive.

Sirens created another action as Riana was fouled on the right flank and the ball was cleared with difficulty from the free kick by Frederick Zammit, while at the other end Ghaxaq won a corner kick on the right flank which was well-taken by Gareth Cutajar and the ball was cleared to another corner.

Attard then saved a shot from outside the area by Gilbert Pisani after the ball was partly cleared from a corner kick by Galea.

In a reaction by Ghaxaq from a flag kick by Tristan ellul from the right flank the ball missed the far post by inches and Isaac Caruana was fouled outside the area and after Cutajar floated a perfect high ball in the area from the free kick Shamizen Buhagiar failed to apply the killer touch with only Sirens keeper Jeremy Cauchi to beat.

In the 23rd minute Ghaxaq equalized as Buhagiar served Jake Aquilina with a square pass inside the area and he scored with a hard grounder.

The Sirens keeper then saved two shots in quick succession, first from a high drive by Nikolai Abela after dribbling past an opponent outside the area and a shot by Buhagiar from the edge of the area after he pounced on a defensive indecision.

Sirens reacted by creating two actions. After a flag kick by Galea, Attard saved a header by Nikita Siliev and the same player then dribbled past an opponent on the left flank who after advancing Attard  turned the ball to a corner with a diving save following his hard grounder.

Just before the half time whistle Tristan Ellul should have scored a second goal for Ghaxaq but he drove out from two metres after being served from a free kick by Cutajar after Buhagiar was fouled outside the area.

Ghaxaq Started on the offensive as they created the first two actions after the resumption. Substitute Luca Micallef was fouled outside the area and and the ball was cleared away from the free kick by Samuel Grima and Micallef dribbled past an opponent as he was about to enter the area Cauchi came out of his charge to kick the ball away to safety.

In the 39th minute Ghaxaq took the lead as Redeemer Borg crossed the ball in the area from the right flank and a defender floored Buhagiar in the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Isaac Caruana took charge of the penalty kick and after Cauchi partly saved his hard grounder he scored from the rebound.

In an effort by Sirens to save the game they mounted four actions. Riani was fouled on the right flank and the ball was cleared away from the free kick by Frederick Zammit. Kyle Chirkop released Galea in the area who drove out after advancing. Siliev was then fouled on the right flank and as he served Galea with a low pass from the free kick he dribbled past two opponents but a third opponent cleared the ball away and Riani released  Chircop in the area who missed the upright from his hard low drive.
