Amy Micallef maintained her record groove at the World Swimming Championships as the Neptunes swimmer set her second national best of the week in Budapest on Saturday.

Competing in the 50 metres breaststroke heats, Micallef completed the one-lap distance in a time of 33.46 seconds.

Her time was 0.22 seconds faster than her own national record of 33.68 seconds she had set less than two weeks ago at the National Pool.

Micallef failed to reach the semi-finals but she still managed to place herself 32nd from 54 swimmers in the overall standings.

Earlier this week, Micallef had also set a new national record in the 100m breaststroke when she stopped the clock in 1:12.79.
