Another first for Cricket

Saturday, May 15, 2010, 10:00

On Tuesday 11th May a small piece of history was written in Malta cricket when a women’s team practised the game for the very first time. The Birkirkara Alligators Womens Rugby team put a side the larger oval ball and tried their hand at the smaller red hard ball. The team had never played this sport and only a couple had seen or heard of the game before.

The women had a go at batting, bowling, fielding and the session was capped off with a game. All around the world the game of cricket is wrongly associated with men only. In fact at present there are two world cups going on in the West Indies, one for the men and the other for women.
