Malta’s national women’s team will be engaged in yet another international ompetitive commitment, this time in the group stage of the European Women’s Championship 2013 which is being played between the 3rd and 8th of March at the Centenary Stadium, Ta’ Qali.

Our opponents in the four-team group will be Armenia, Faroe Islands and Gorgia, football nations which many contend to be more or less of the same srength as ours. Coach Pierre Brincat will, nevertheless, have a stiff task to steer our team towards qualification to the finals which are due to be played in Sweden in two years’ time. Over the past months, he has been constantly eyeing new faces in order to rely on as wide a group as possible, even if international experience may be at a premium as far as some players are concerned. However, the core components of the team should ooze confidence, and if recent form and results are anything to go by, our chances of a positive outcome from our three matches should not be dismissed. Solid backing from the stands for our team is vital. Entrance to the Centenary Stadium is free.

The following is the sequence of matches:

3 March 11:00hrs  – Georgia v Malta 14:00Hrs Faroe Islands v Armenia
5 March 11:00hrs –  Armenia v Georgia 14:00Hrs Faroe Islands v Malta
8 March 11:00hrs – Georgia v Faroe Islands 14:00Hrs Malta v Armenia
