Andrew Chetcuti breaks 50m freestyle national record

ASA National Swimmer Andrew Chetcuti, participating in the 14th FINA World Swimming Championships being held in Shanghai, continued to improve on his previous timing of 00.23.67 in the 50m freestyle when he set a new national record of 00.23.65. Swimming in heat 10 (out of sixteen heats), Andrew’s overall position of the event was 43 out of 116 competitors.

The last event for the Maltese swimmers is for Nicola Muscat who will participate in the 50m freestyle tomorrow morning.

Andrea Agius, Andrew Chetcuti and Nicola Muscat, accompanied by National Coach Andy Colbourn and ASA Technical Committee Secretary and Team Manager Chris Agius, are this week in Shanghai to participate in the 14th FINA World Swimming Championships.

The Maltese team will return to Malta on 2 August 2011.
