Aloysians Handball Club claim the first honours of the season.

Aloysians Handball Club reconfirmed its status following wins in the Super Cup finals in both men and women categories. In the men’s final, Aloysians Von Taine beat rivals La Salle Unique 22 – 18. The women’s final, Aloysians Zmerc managed to triumph over La Salle Rivareno 27 -24.

Last season champions, Aloysians Zmerc, started the match on a solid pace and surged ahead in the first seven minutes leading by 3 goals to 1. La Salle Unique fought their way back into the game, nonetheless by the end of the first half La Salle where leading by 5 goal. During the second half, cup holders Aloysians fought back and took control. Midway through the second half, the score read 20 -20. Aloysians kept inflicting damage on La Salle’s rear guard. During the last five minutes, Aloysians surged ahead and maintained the lead throughout the rest of the encounter. MHA Vice President Mr. Andrew Decelis Presented the Winners trophy to the team captain Brenda Mamo.

The Men’s final, Aloysians Von Taine clinched an decisive victory over La Salle Unique.The match started with a slow and a balanced pace. During the last five minutes of the first half, Aloysians went ahead by three goals and kept such lead throughout the first thirty minutes. Following the break, La Salle tried to fight their way back into the game however Aloysians declined to give away their lead. Nevertheless, in the final ten minutes Aloysians kept their supremacy as they ended up wining the thrilling encounter 22 – 18. With the first trophy of the season in their bag, Aloysians claimed their 2nd consecutive trophy following last season knock out win. MHA President Mr. Louis Borg Presented the Winners trophy to the team captain Philip Mifsud.
