5 youths to represent Malta at the 2016 International European Junior Chess Championships

On the 17th of August, five youths will be representing Malta in the International European Junior Chess Championships in Prague. The previous event was held in Poreč (Croatia).

The participants have been practicing hard for the event which will have contestants from all around the world.

The team has been coached by Colin Pace, who is the Malta Chess Champion and has helped the participants reach their potential.

The participants in the event are:

Luke Fleri age 9 from Swieqi
Matthew Fleri (Luke Fleri’s twin brother)
Matteo Stagno aged 11 from Mgarr
Milena Stagno aged 9 from Mgarr (Sister of Matteo)
Matthias Gatt aged 13 from Sliema


We wish the Maltese contingent good luck and hope that they can bring home the glory!
