Mosta maintain positive run

Mosta lead the standings on maximum points from 5 games while Birkirkara are on 4 points from same number of games. The Blues were the much better outfit as they created more actions than Birkirkara.

Between the 1st and 7th minutes Mosta scored three goals. Kyle Gatt entered the area after beating a defender and scored with a low drive past Birkirkara keeper Emmanuel Galea. Gatt released Neil Frendo in the area and scored with a low drive and Frendo pounced on a faulty back-pass by Brian Mifsud and scored with a tap-in into an empty net.

The Stripes tried to get back in the game as they created four actions. Gianluca Zammit was fouled outside the area and Ayrton Attard drvoe slightly over the bar from the  free kick. Nicholas Farrugia set Zammit free on the right edge of the area but he drove over the bar. Karl Caruana dribbled past an opponent on the dge of the area and after Mosta keeper ANDY Attard partly saved his shot he also saved from the rebound ahot by Attard and Attard dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and the Mosta keeper neutralised the ball from his low cross.

Mosta created the last action before the break as Jurgen Grech dribbled past an opponent on the left flank and the ball was headed away from his dangerous cross.

The second period was dominated by Mosta. Nicholas Farrugia dribbled past an opponent on the right flank and the ball was cleared to a corner from his cross.

In the 47th minute the score became 4-0 when Frendo served Gatt with a cross from the right on the edge of the area and he scored with a hard and low diagonal drive.

The pressure from Mosta resumed as they mounted two more actions. Matthias Formosa released Frendo on the right flank and as he tried his luck with a lobbed ball this was neutralised by Galea and Farrugia released Frendo in the area and he missed the upright by inches.

In the 65th minute Birkirkara came close to reduce the gap when Kyle Mifsud  released Zammit in the area and Attard saved his header as he dived and turned the ball to a corner and four minutes before the end Birkirkara scored a consolation goal  as Ayrton Attard was fouled outside the area and after Mifsud floated a high ball in the area from the free kick substitute Tyron Cachia scored with a rising shot.
