Former football coach Andy Roxburgh, currently a UEFA technical director, earlier this week  conducted a lecture
to a very attentive centenary hall crowded with local coaches listening on to the very informative presentation. This event also formed part of this season’s anniversary activities which Mr. Roxburgh also made reference to.

Roxburgh discussed the significance of the knowledge of the game, reading the game and anticipating the course of the match. He went on to explain the importance a coach has to place on interpretation, understanding, analysing
and knowledge of the match.

Counterattacking fashioned a discussion in the hall as Mr Roxburgh explained the importance of a quick transition from defence to attack and from an attacking position back to a defensive situation.

Basing his presentation on six key aspects – Preparation, Observation, Anticipation, Interpretation, Communication and Evaluation, Roxburgh also used a humoristic approach in his explanation. There was no end to the attentive UEFA ‘A’ and MFA ‘A’ Coaches questions being put forward in the end of the session.
