Sirens ASC swimming team produced a fantastic performance at the Easter International Meet held between Thursday 4thand Saturday 6th April.

Fielding a young team of 44 swimmers with some of the swimmers competing in certain events for the first time, and against stronger  clubs, the team achieved a very promising result overall.

The majority of swimmers produced outstanding performances and as a team they achieved a72% personal best rate with PBs from their swims. A total of …. medals were won by Sirens swimmers and even in the younger categories were the swimmers were racing against swimmers of an older age group some managed to make it to the podium. Thirteen year old swimmer, Jeremy Bugeja was amongst the top swimmers in his category achieving nine gold medals and personal best times in all his events.

It was a great weekend and the team spirit was excellent with swimmers cheering for their team-mates and celebrating their successes. The effort and commitment was brilliant and all came out with great credit.

Special thanks goes to our coaches Davina Mangion and Daniela Deguara for their dedication throughout, John Lewis and the rest of the sirens committee for their sterling work in helping us strengthen our club, and to the parents for their constant support.

Our coaches are very proud and satisfied with the contribution, effort and commitment put in by all the swimmers. The club will now continue to train hard in order to build on this result during the National Championships which are to be held at the end of June.

The swimming team approached this competition with a training camp which was held at the end of the summer season, various team building activities and will mark the end of the winter term with a camping experience next weekend.
